From 25 to 28 February this year the regional plenipotentiary of the Embassy of Germany for Krasnodar Region, Mr Christian Seebode, who replaced the previous holder of the post Judith Kons, was to be found in Krasnodar on an official visit. The new plenipotentiary had travelled to the Kuban for the first time. The aim of his visit was to get to know the Region, to define areas for expanding cooperation between the region and Germany, and to take part in the Southern Architectural-Construction Forum.
As part of the visit Mr Seebode took part in the forum on 26 February, after which he met with the Head of the Department of External Economic Activity, Aleksandr Tkachenko. During the meeting the parties discussed prospective areas for cooperation and ways to develop cooperation.
On the same day a meeting was held in the mayoralty of Krasnodar. The German guest was received by the Mayor of Krasnodar, Vladimir Evlanov, and Chair of the City Duma, Nikolai Kotlyarov. During the meeting the parties were agreed that in conditions of the global economic crisis development of small and medium small business, as the key factor of any economy, will become a real mutually beneficial prospect where it will be possible to apply joint efforts. In Germany approximately two thirds of gross product comes from small business. It was agreed to work further in this field, to bring together the experience of the German businessmen and Krasnodar entrepreneurs.
On 27 February the programme of the visit included visits to a range of businesses and institutions in the Region, including the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Krasnodar Region, the СLAAS factory, the Kuban State University, and the Thoracic Surgery Centre.
In summarising Christian Seebode's visit, his words during one of the meetings should be quoted: ‘I accept the invitation to continue the work begun on strengthening the links between Germany and Krasnodar Region with pleasure. And I would be delighted to be involved not only as an ambassador from Germany in Russia, but also as a representative of Krasnodar Region to German businesses and their branches in Moscow,' noted the diplomat. This announcement confirms that Krasnodar Region has good prospects in Germany for continuing the dialogue and for further strengthening of relations.
