Aleksander Nikolaevich Tkachev was born on December 23, 1960 in the village of Vyselki of the Krasnodar Region. Upon finishing the Vyselki’s secondary school N2, in 1978, he entered the Krasnodar Polytechnic Institute. In 1983, having received a qualification of a mechanical engineer, he started to work at the Vyselki’s inter-farm mill and mix plant as a heating engineer, later on – as a chief mechanic.

In 1986 he was appointed as the first secretary of the Vyselki District Committee of Komsomol. In 1990 he was appointed a director of the mill and mix plant.

In 1993, by his initiative the enterprise was reorganized into АО Agrocomplex, and А.N. Tkachev was appointed as a Director General. The beginning of a serious political activity of А.N. Tkachev one can consider the time of electing him a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Region in 1994.

In 1995 the Tikhoretsky District, comprised of 11 cities and areas of the region, gave him a vote of confidence, by having elected him a deputy of the State Duma of the second, and in 1999 – that of the third convocation. А.N. Tkachev was a chairman of the Committee for National Affairs of the State Duma.

For the firm position and active participation in solution of problems of the countryside, the colleagues of the Russia parliament elected А.N. Tkachev a deputy chairman of the Agroindustrial group in the State Duma. A.N. Tkachev is a head of the Agrarian Union of Kuban.

On February 25, 2000 A.N. Tkachev defended the Candidate’s dissertation in economics.

On December 3, 2000 A.N. Tkachev confidently wins the election campaign, having become the Head (Governor) of the Krasnodar Administration. 82.14 per cent of voters have elected A.N. Tkachev.

On March 14, 2004 he was re-elected for a second term. On March 30 A.N. Tkachev was officially appointed a governor of Kuban at the ceremonial meeting of the Legislative Assembly of the Region.

December 17, 2004 A.N. Tkachev defended the doctorate dissertation in economics.

April 23, 2007 upon the promotion by the president of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin, at the session of the Legislative Assembly of the Region, A.N. Tkachev had been authorized as head of the Krasnodar Region Administration for a new five-year period. On the same day, A.N. Tkachev was officially appointed the head of the Krasnodar Region Administration.

A Diploma of Merit by the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (2000). A medal "For Merit in Carrying out the All-Russian Population Census" (2002). A laureate of the prize named after Peter the Great "For Development and Strengthening of the Russian State" (2002).

A laureate of the national award "For the Achievements in the Sphere of Social-Economic and Cultural Construction" (2002).

A laureate of the award of Peter the Great "The National Pride of Russia" (2002). A laureate of the All-Russian Award "The Russian National Olympus" in the nomination of "The State Figure of Russia — 2002-2003".

A.N. Tkachev was awarded a sign "The Honorary Builder of Russia" (2003). A laureate of the award "The National Pride of Russia" in the nomination of "For an Outstanding Input in the Enhancement of the Region’s Image" (2003).

A laureate of the international award "The Leaders of the Tour Industry" in the nomination of "The Person of the Year" (2003).

A holder of the Grand-Prix "The Person of the Year", for a personal input in the development of the political system A.N. Tkachev was awarded an Order "The Glory of Russia" (2004).

A.N. Tkachev has been also awarded the Second Degree Order of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Saint Sergiy Radonezhsky (2005).

A.N. Tkachev is awarded the Fourth Degree Order "For the Merit Before the Motherland" (2005).
